Otto Bache was a Danish artist who painted historical subjects, landscapes, animals and portraits. Bache was born in Roskilde, Denmark on the 21st of August 1839. He had a precocious talent and at only age ten attended the Art Academy in Copenhagen where he was a pupil of W. Marstrand. Between 1866 and 1868 he traveled through France and Italy. In 1872 he became a member of the Copenhagen Art Academy and in 1887 was nominated a professor. Bache eventually became director of the Academy in 1905.
